Wonderbook Gifts is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services to you. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information when you visit, use, or make a purchase or other transaction using the Services or otherwise communicate with us. If there is a conflict between our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy, this Privacy Policy controls with respect to the collection, processing, and disclosure of your personal information.

About this US store policy

This policy applies to the English-language US storefront at wonderbookgifts.com and information you provide to that store. It is not the privacy policy for separate France or Norway storefronts, or the complete privacy notice for the common WonderBook app.

Book personalization information. This includes the first name, original photo or existing uploaded-photo reference, and character details supplied for the person featured in a book, who may be a child or an adult. Depending on the selected form, details can include gender, eye and hair colors, appearance notes, an adult's name or the name a child uses for them, the gift giver's name, and dedication text. A submitted photo file can include its original filename and embedded metadata.

Personal Information Sources

We may collect personal information from the following sources:

• Directly from you including when you create an account, visit or use the Services, communicate with us, or otherwise provide us with your personal information;
• Automatically through the Services including from your device when you use our products or services or visit our websites, and through the use of cookies and similar technologies;
• From our service providers including when we engage them to enable certain technology and when they collect or process your personal information on our behalf;

For book personalization, the source is the adult customer who chooses a photo and enters details about themselves or another person. A saved character can also supply details previously entered in the same browser. Browser storage of a character is separate from a Shopify customer account.

Depending on how you interact with us or which of the Services you use, we may use personal information for the following purposes:

• Provide, Tailor, and Improve the Services. We use your personal information to provide you with the Services, including to perform our contract with you, to process your payments, to fulfill your orders, to remember your preferences and items you are interested in, to send notifications to you related to your account, to process purchases, returns, exchanges or other transactions, to create, maintain and otherwise manage your account, to arrange for shipping, to facilitate any returns and exchanges, to enable you to post reviews, and to create a customized shopping experience for you, such as recommending products related to your purchases. Personalizing your book. The website saves the character's original photo and details in your browser, where storage is available, so you can choose that character again. When you add a personalized book to your cart, the website sends its photo file or uploaded-photo reference and personalization details to Shopify. This happens before checkout or payment. These details accompany the selected book for personalization and order handling. Saving a character in the current website does not generate an illustrated avatar or synchronize a private character library with your account or the app.

How We Disclose Personal Information

In certain circumstances, we may disclose your personal information to third parties for legitimate purposes subject to this Privacy Policy. Such circumstances may include:

• With Shopify, vendors and other third parties who perform services on our behalf (e.g. IT management, payment processing, data analytics, customer support, cloud storage, fulfillment and shipping).
• With business and marketing partners to provide marketing services and advertise to you. For example, we use Shopify to support personalized advertising with third-party services based on your online activity with different merchants and websites. Our business and marketing partners will use your information in accordance with their own privacy notices. Photo and personalization transfers. Shopify receives the photo file or uploaded-photo reference and the personalization details submitted with a cart item. If you purchase that item, its personalization is associated with the order and available for order handling. The website's photo-quality check runs in the browser. When the browser needs additional detection software and model files, it downloads them from jsDelivr and Google-hosted storage; those downloads involve technical connection information such as an IP address and request details. This browser check is separate from the subsequent photo transfer to Shopify.

Relationship with Shopify

The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services in order to provide and improve the Services for you. Information you submit to the Services will be transmitted to and shared with Shopify as well as third parties that may be located in countries other than where you reside, in order to provide and improve the Services for you. In addition, to help protect, grow, and improve our business, we use certain Shopify enhanced features that incorporate data and information obtained from your interactions with our Store, along with other merchants and with Shopify. To provide these enhanced features, Shopify may make use of personal information collected about your interactions with our store, along with other merchants, and with Shopify. In these circumstances, Shopify is responsible for the processing of your personal information, including for responding to your requests to exercise your rights over use of your personal information for these purposes. Information about children and other people featured in books

Our services are intended for adults arranging personalized books. When an adult uses personalization, we process the photos, names and other book details they provide about the person featured, who may be a child or an adult. Children should not upload photos or create accounts. Adults must have the appropriate authority or permission to provide another person's information.

Use the contact details in this policy to ask about information concerning you or a child for whom you have legal authority, or to request access, correction or deletion, subject to applicable law. Please do not send a child's photo with an initial privacy enquiry. The rights and choices described below also apply where the relevant law provides them.

Security and Retention of Your Information

Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee "perfect security." In addition, any information you send to us may not be secure while in transit. We recommend that you do not use unsecure channels to communicate sensitive or confidential information to us.

How long we retain your personal information depends on different factors, such as whether we need the information to maintain your account, to provide you with Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce other applicable contracts and policies.

Browser photos, submitted photos and book artwork

The current browser character library has no automatic expiry timer. Saved entries can remain until you remove them or the browser clears or loses its stored data; some storage fallbacks last only for a tab or page session. Removing a character removes its entry from that browser's saved-character library. Clearing this website's browser data also clears other locally saved personalization, but neither action deletes information already sent to Shopify with a cart or order.

An original photo, a submitted cart or order copy, and any illustration or print artwork made for a book are different records. Removing the browser entry is not a request to delete those other records, and generating artwork does not itself establish that the source photo has been deleted. The retention factors above apply to information held for our services. To ask about retention or request deletion of submitted photos or book artwork, use the contact details below; applicable rights and exceptions are described in Your Rights and Choices. The planned shared character service's proposed deletion schedule does not describe the current browser or Shopify order-photo flow.

Your Rights and Choices

Using WonderBook app links with the US store

When you choose to open the US store at wonderbookgifts.com from WonderBook, information you provide on this website is handled under this US store policy. Opening a website link also involves technical request information, such as your IP address. The store policy does not replace the common app's own privacy notice or the policies of separate France and Norway stores.

The app preview under development uses example books and fictional characters. Photo upload, connected saved characters and their related privacy controls are marked Pending implementation in that preview. Store selection is separate from display language; the preview's France and Norway store destinations remain unavailable. Removing the app does not delete information stored in your website browser or associated with a website account or order.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including to reflect changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised Privacy Policy on this website, update the "Last updated" date and provide notice as required by applicable law.
